Please allow me a moment to express my thanks to the residents of Myrtle Beach who supported me in my recent re-election effort. Because of the support of many wonderful citizens, the people of Myrtle Beach allowed me to represent them on council for the next four years. It is a responsibility that I do not assume lightly.

A responsible local government begins with sound city finances and constituent service. Council must provide services that are essential such as police, fire, and stormwater management, then decide which individual citizen/city amenities are prudent for the city as a whole, for the people council represents.

The city of Myrtle Beach is blessed to have many natural resources and an excellent city staff, though our most precious resource is our resident population, more particularly our children, for whom we on council must set a high standard with regard to good government decision-making and portraying the most appropriate civil behavior in our capacity as public servants.

Phil Render, Myrtle Beach
