Right call to fire officer for slamming girl

Re: “Slammed girl brought it on,’’ by Rick Gutierrez, Thursday:

As a former police officer who worked with the school system and dealt with children, I can tell you this police officer should be charged with assault. First of all, he had no right being in that classroom. This wasn't a crime being committed, it was a school problem. He is not a bouncer for the school, his duty is to prevent crime. Also to let young people have interaction with a police officer.

I wonder if this was the writer’s child, would his reaction be the same?
