Georgetown County Council created setback problem
I can appreciate the rationale for the 90-foot setback as expressed by Steven Goggans, our County Council District 6 representative. But I will point out it’s the lack of our county representatives doing their job in the first place that has caused the problems.
If we have a 90-foot setback requirement then enforce it, or change it, but do not ignore it! Instead they force upon us a median project through Pawleys Island that further exacerbates creating the walkable community we really need. They also fail to resolve the issues surrounding the extension of S.C. 31 as the desperately needed bypass to Bucksport as outlined in the GSATS Long-Range Transportation Plan done in 2011.
The time has come to stop dodging the issues and really address the needs of the community we love and want to preserve.
