Family, teen need to acknowledge waste of time, resources in search
As an Horry County taxpayer I am outraged about the saga surrounding the search for McKenna Spindler. My dear friend posted missing person signs at his restaurant as did many other locals. Learning she fabricated a story about being kidnapped and assaulted is a slap in the face to local law enforcement, the FBI and everyone else who was involved in this search.
The worst part: zero accountability or apology from her or her parents (who are responsible for her as a minor). I am anxiously waiting for an announcement about how and when they will reimburse appropriate entities for monies, time and resources spent looking for her, and when she will be making a very public apology (perhaps over the PA system at one of the local Walmarts or Sam's Clubs that donated supplies and services for signs).
The fact that the very same people who begged the public to help them in the search are now, in a sense, stating it's no one's business speaks volumes.
