Disrespect for local business results in diner’s closing
Prince Creek Diner, a great family-owned restaurant, recently closed. It was a small local business that had been in the shopping center for a number of years and employed local people. A large property owner from the Myrtle Beach area wanted to increase the rent.
The owner of the diner said he could not afford such a large increase. The shopping center has lost several businesses and has empty store fronts.
Why do property owners do this? It doesn't make any sense when this newer shopping center has empty stores. So who can help these small business owners? These businesses are the backbone of this country. They employ local people and pay taxes. Can Horry County or the County Council start looking at helping these local businesses?
