No comparison between persecution of Jews and deportation of illegal immigrants
Re: Sept. 7 letter from Teddy Altreuter, “Trump’s call echoes Hitler”
I find your article to be ridiculously absurd. Our country has no difficulty accepting immigrants.
The United States remains one of the most generous and welcoming countries on this earth. But most of us do have difficulty accepting criminals who have illegally entered this country. They jumped the line and unfairly put themselves ahead of all of the legal immigrants and in the process totally overloaded all of our systems (criminal justice, education, medical, social security, welfare – just to name a few).
And, the American taxpayer is paying for and suffering the consequences of this overload. They have placed our citizens (especially in border towns) in jeopardy and risk. This isn’t even remotely close to what happened to the Jewish people who were persecuted under Nazi rule in Germany & Eastern Europe.
Insinuating otherwise is insulting to millions of Jews (and their families) who suffered that persecution. Comparing the two is insulting on a very broad scale. Your comparison is the equivalent of comparing American football to soccer because they both involve a ball, a goal and running.
