Construction zones no place for speeding, distracted drivers

Many of us are aware of the road work happening at the south end of the beach. Every day there are people trying to get somewhere quickly disregarding speed limits posted for road work.

I’m amused when I get to a red light and there’s that person who was trying to get somewhere fast right there beside me waiting for the light to turn green. Yesterday, on my way to a meeting there was a fender bender on U.S. 17 Bypass close to Glenns Bay Road. People slow down. We have become a society where we have to be somewhere “yesterday,” putting on makeup while we drive, talking and texting on our phones. Life is more important than that!

Just yesterday there were two major accidents on S.C. 707 with injuries. Let’s slow down, have respect for the road workers, don’t use cell phones and ladies wait till you get to work to put on your makeup or do it at home.
