Newspaper finally provides coverage of Sanders campaign
Thank heavens, The Sun News has finally given a mention to the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign that wasn’t derogatory or snide (Aug. 22, “Bernie Sanders Takes Aim at Greedy Koch Brothers”).
Last weekend, Sen. Sanders appeared at four separate events in South Carolina, from Greenville to Charleston. As in other parts of the country, he drew large and enthusiastic crowds – more so than any of the other candidates. The Charleston rally, which we attended, was the only one mentioned in The Sun News. It had originally been scheduled for a high school auditorium but had to be moved to the Charleston Convention Center due to the large turnout.
Unfortunately, thanks to the stingy coverage Sanders has received in the media, many people still have no idea what he stands for. In a nutshell, Sanders will work to reduce inequality, restore our crumbling infrastructure, bring real justice to our criminal justice system, provide low-cost college for any American who wants it, fight climate change and clean up our corrupt politics – and that means overruling the disastrous Citizens United verdict. And he is the only candidate who refuses to take money from corporations or Wall Street, and who has turned down offers to create a Super PAC in his support.
We hope The Sun News will continue to inform their readers about this dynamic and public-spirited candidate. Our country desperately needs Bernie Sanders, now.
