Religious leaders must turn their attention to sin

Re: Aug. 12 letter from Jack Brandmahl, Ministers and Rabbis are failing the country - and so are the rest of us

Thank you Mr. Brandmahl for your insightful letter. You said things that have been on my mind and heart for years now.

It seems that ministers and rabbis are afraid of being called “politically incorrect” by preaching about sin and the final coming of Jesus. Congregations do not want to hear these sermons. I’m afraid that some Jesus followers are looking through rose-colored glasses.

We only have to look around us to see how this country has changed and the world has changed in the past 70 years or so. Who ever thought that we Americans would allow our government to strike down praying in schools and public places; allowing abortion, same sex marriages. During these times the churches were silent. The Bible tells us how to live. We can’t pick and choose what we agree with.

Please let us, as Jesus followers, change the course our nation is on and love one another.
