Letter | Time to check out ‘new’ Whispering Pines golf course in Myrtle Beach
Whispering Pines vastly improved
There were many letters to the editor when there was talk about closing down Whispering Pines Golf Course. Since contracting the course out to Atlantic Golf Management, their hasn't been one letter concerning the takeover from the city of Myrtle Beach.
Since that takeover, there have been numerous improvements to the course, which have improved its overall appearance and playability: the lakes and ponds have been cleaned, palm trees trimmed for the first time in probably 10 years, sodding, seeding, cart path repairs. Next up is the renovation of the clubhouse.
Whispering Pines is transforming into a course that the city of Myrtle Beach can truly be proud of. If you haven't played the course in awhile, you need to come back and check it out. If you never played Whispering Pines, you need to put it on your list of courses to play, especially with the great rates for locals. From the tee boxes to the fairways and greens, Chip Smith and his crew have worked wonders with what they were given at the start and something the city of Myrtle Beach can really be proud of.
Come out and play the new Whispering Pines and see for yourself.
