Letter | American values must prevail wherever people long for them

American values must prevail

Why are we involved in the Ukraine? As a child of the 1980s, the Ukraine seemed unreachable in regards to capitalism. Yet today, the Ukraine reaches out, not to communism, but to the values that we cherish as Americans. The United States has a true obligation to hold out its hand in the spirit of peace and progress. These two concepts are paramount to our way of life.

As the beacon of freedom in this world, we as America must hold our hand out to those looking for a hand to hold onto.

No matter what the challenge, no matter what the difficulty, rain or shine, American values must prevail. We owe that to all those who sacrificed their lives in the spirit of being and living free. Anything less, anything short of this is a disservice to those who died in the pursuit of liberty, justice and peace.
