Christian conversions a bright spot of slavery?

Re: Aug. 1 letter from Henry Bollinger, “Introduction to Christianity saved many slaves’ souls”

Now I’ve heard it all. Even though slavery was wrong, black people should be grateful that we saved their souls by introducing them to Christianity. I guess you can only be saved if you accept Jesus, but if you do, you are saved no matter what you do. I have a feeling that’s not how it will turn out.

It’s religious fanatics of all kinds who claim to be superior that create hatred and conflict.
