Conversions to Christianity don’t make up for slavery
Re: Aug. 2 letter from Henry Bollinger, “Introduction to slavery saved many slaves souls”
I had to reread the letter from Henry Bollinger several times to make certain he said what he seems to have said. He apparently believes that “many Christians” today can justify slavery because the slave holders were saving souls.
Not so many years ago there was another man, Maurice Bessinger, who took a similar stand. Maurice put out great barbecue but his logic was flawed. I don’t know about your barbecue Mr. Bollinger, but I do not embrace your characterization of Christian beliefs. Or, in other words, HUH?
