Letter | Time for our leaders in Washington to do the right thing on Medicare drug prices

POLITICS

Do the right thing on Medicare

Every day we hear on the news about the dozen or so Americans held hostage by foreign nations. Yet we fail to report on the 34 million elderly hostages here in the United States.

They are hostage to 535 Congressman and their 535 “Pharm D” lobbyists.

It would be the moral thing to do - and there would be no skin off their noses - if they would co sponsor a bill that would authorize Medicare to negotiate drug price in the Medicare Part D program just like the Veterans Administration, Medicaid, and many of the large insurance companies.

The only thing they would lose would be those big, fat campaign contributions, which is why they do as they are told when it comes time to vote.
