Letter | Good move by Horry County to help save the planet with recycling centers

ENVIRONMENT

Recycling helps save the planet

I would like to thank Horry County for putting in the recycling centers. The planet is deteriorating so fast, anything we can do to improve the quality of life for future generations is a plus.

We have placed regular plastic bins in our garage for paper, cardboard and cans/plastics. It is no problem to put these items in the containers on a daily basis and dispose of them in the proper receptacles at the recycle facility.

I am not sure why Horry County, like most of Florida, does not fine any person who does not separate their items. Each time we go to the recycling center, we see huge bags of everything placed in one bin instead of in the proper receptacles. Some trash is just dumped outside the gate. It must get very frustrating for the people working there.

I can only assume the people who do this can not read and therefore can not follow the instructions on each receptacle at the centers.

These individuals probably do not even read the paper.
