Letter | Stop flying the ‘political correctness’ flag

A new high in political correctness has been reached. There is a legal way to enter and work in this country. People who enter and transport contraband through tunnels or hidden in freight trucks are criminals.

Donald Trump has called a spade a spade and will not apologize. Good for him. The pyramids were built by slaves and serfs. Do we now insist they be torn down? A Confederate flag may be offensive to some, I get that. But a symbol of racism? It's part of our history. Part of who we are and where we came from.

Slavery was wrong, everyone with any sense recognizes that. Men during that time who believed in that way of life died carrying that flag. What's next? What will we call home-grown Islamic terrorists? How will we politically correctly identify them?

I'd like to remind everyone who has kept up with the story of the convicted Boston bomber. The penalty for treason is death. If my remarks offend anyone due to my political incorrectness, I'm not sorry.

The writer lives in Myrtle Beach.
