FLAG

U.S. and state flags represent us all

As most people are aware, full U.S. citizenship was restored to most former citizens of the Confederate States of America by President Johnson soon after the end of the Civil War.

Those who had left the service or the military of the U.S. had to apply for reinstatement, as did high-ranking Confederate military and government officers. Most of soldiers honored by various monuments were born Americans and either had their citizenship restored posthumously or had already regained it when they died.

I think it is appropriate to honor their memories with the flag of the United States and the state flags under which they fought - not the flag that has been usurped by terrorists to intimidate and demean others.
