Letter | Sorry folks; tax increases can’t fix all that ails us

Taxes can’t fix everything

To hear the road construction industry lobbyists, we are all spending $1200 per year on car repairs every year. If that were true, the repair shops would be booming - and that is just not the case.

The pot holes will never all be filled; there will never be enough police to satisfy everyone; and emergency response times can never be quick enough.

Some people seem to believe that with each next new tax increase, all the problems will go away. We must find a balance between utopian wants and absolute needs before taxpayers go broke.
