Letter | Horry County must stop spending on frivolous things before raising my taxes
Don’t raise taxes before proving need
Horry County Council is considering raising my taxes to cover road improvements and the increase in law enforcement needs. Before they do that, I would like to see them publish for the public the amount of money they spend each year on vehicles they provide for employees to drive from work to home and back again.
I would like to know how much they spend on gas, oil, tires, normal tune ups, tags, taxes and insurance on those vehicles.
I would like to know how much they spend each year on cell phone and internet bills. How much is spent on the latest version of iPhone, iPad and other perks to upper-level employees, many of whom were given the the previous version when it came out?
This should also apply to people who get new cars every one to two years. Council, please consider other avenues before raising my taxes and firing employees to cover the upper-crust county employees perks.
Thank you.
