Vaught has broken campaign promises
Incredible!
After running on a campaign platform that touted his success in defeating a special tax district to basically pay for street lights and other community improvements in our neighborhood and promising no frivolous tax increases, Horry County Councilman Johnny Vaught has endorsed the largest tax increase allowed by state law – 7.2 mills.
In addition, the road maintenance fee may go from $30 to $50 per auto. This is a significant 66 percent increase, almost doubling the current rate, and will adversely affect our least wealthy citizens.
This fee will benefit only a few of the 11 districts in Horry County and most of it will be levied against the districts that have the most cars and fewest dirt roads. So much for his campaign promises!
