Letter | Large raise for Horry County administrator a big mistake

Large raise for administrator a mistake
Speaking as a concerned Horry County citizen, of the 6th council district, all workers deserve a raise, including the county administrator. But I think it is a shame that a man will sit at a desk and take a $30,000 a year raise while asking his workers to take benefit cuts and work “at-will” without a contract.
A true leader would make sure the women and men that protect their county and provide services to all of us should be considered first, before taking a raise of any amount, especially such a large amount of money that basically equals or is just below the starting salaries for most of these workers.
I am sure the county administrator has an extremely tough job. But do not ask the workers to take cuts and in a blink turn around and accept a pay raise for yourself.
The employees don't deserve this and they are truly what makes this county safe. No man or woman should work under a contract or negotiate a contract unless he is willing to allow his employees to engage in a collective bargaining processes.
I find these actions disgraceful to the citizens and an insult to the employees of Horry County.
