Letter: Left-lane driving: Myrtle Beach area drivers are rude, inconsiderate

TRANSPORTATION

Slow drivers must get out of left lane

It seems too often that drivers here, residents and visitors, drive in the left-hand lane of 4-lane roads - even when driving below the speed limit. It causes overall traffic to move slower, it is dangerous as drivers attempt to pass in the right lane - dart in and out of lanes - and tailgate the slower drivers.

Having lived here here for years, it seems much more common here than anywhere else, and that the laws are not enforced: trucks with trailers, slow vehicles, big pick-ups poking along and no consideration for others.

I am from a southern state, too, so have been surprised by the rude and inconsiderate behavior.

It is common sense for slower traffic to use the right hand lane and allow normal traffic to pass on the left. In many cases, slow drivers are on a cell phone totally unaware that others are on the road.

Let's all be considerate and use common sense to make our roads safer.
