Letter | We need to know what new Horry County Schools book teaches about Christianity

EDUCATION

Christianity important in our schools

On April 27, the Horry County School board approved the McGraw –Hill social studies book for use in our district.

Since I know that all the religions of the world are suppose to be presented to our children, I have tried in vain to find a copy to scrutinize or to find someone else who has read the section on religion. I have not found anyone in the district school office or in the state who has read the religious section. I’m sure that someone somewhere must have taken time to have read this section. It is very important in a country which was established on Christian principles to present Christianity to its children accurately.

All children are not born to Christian parents. Children who are not trained up in Christianity should have a true presentation when it is presented to them along side false religions. If Christianity is presented truthfully, the children will get a better vision and maybe make better choices.

Children need to know about religions, as well as government and health. Government and health books should also be scrutinized as well.

All school districts in the state should have a curricula room available during all school hours for parents and interested citizens to come into, to scrutinize the books children are using. We need to make our curricula accessible and transparent.

Our social studies book order should be put on hold until we know what is in it about Christianity.

We need to know what is being presented to our children.
