Home invasion shows dangers of weapons, prescriptions and children in homes

Home invasion

Care must be taken whenguns, children in home

It was reported recently that three men forced their way into the home of a 68-year-old man and woman. There was also a 1-year-old child with them. The occupants were threatened and guns, drugs and other items were taken.

I have a few questions. Why does a 68 year-old man have 11 guns in his home? Why was one an AK-47? Who has all those guns in the house when someone is on Percocet and Xanax? Who leaves a 1-year-old in a home with all those guns?

I am a firm believer in responsible gun ownership and taking personal responsibility for yourself and family. But let me suggest that older people, people on medications and people with children in their home really need to take at least an annual inventory. This gentleman had 11 guns in his home and not one of them protected him. Now there are 11 guns, including an AK-47 on the street to do immeasurable harm.
