Sheriff Thompson no racist

Re Rayford Vereen's April 13 letter to the editor concerning discrimination accusations made against Sheriff Phillip Thompson.

I wholeheartedly agree with Rayford that Sheriff Thompson was falsely accused. I have known Sheriff Thompson for many years, both as a cop (now retired from North Myrtle Beach Police Department) and now as a citizen.

To put it simply, Sheriff Thompson is a class act that is respected by many. He is a fair man, honest, ethical, friendly and kind.

It is my opinion, much like our respected Horry County Chief Saundra Rhodes, that there's not a discriminating bone in his body.

He has always dedicated himself to serving the citizens of Horry County.

Thank you, Sheriff Thompson. Keep up the good work.
