Letter | Canine Angels grateful for its return to Little River crab fest
FESTIVALS
Grateful for crab fest welcome
Canine Angels Service Dogs is delighted to be part of the upcoming 2015 World Famous Blue Crab Festival in Little River.
Last year, the Little River Chamber of Commerce elected to ban all pets and adoptable animals from future events. Service dogs with their handlers would be permitted as mandated by law, but the CASD pack would not be welcome.
Hundreds of our supporters, including many veterans, wrote letters and made calls to officials protesting the decision.
After meeting with chamber and festival committee leaders, the decision was reversed. We are so grateful these decision makers listened to the community we all serve and graciously reconsidered.
Festivals are not only vital fundraisers for our charity, but also give local disabled veterans facing physical and mental challenges a chance to see what a service dog might do for them.
We are grateful to the chamber, the festival committee, our veterans and supporters.
