Letter | Myrtle Beach got rid of Harley for Bikefest? Seriously?

BIKERS

Myrtle Beach got rid of Harley for Bikefest?

To the city of Myrtle beach, you got rid of Harley Week, which really didn't pose any problems except for noise.

They came and spent money. Why do you encourage this “Bikefest” on Memorial Day weekend that brings nothing but problems and expense to the city?

How about we diss this Bikefest also and concentrate on making Memorial Day weekend a family destination at the beach?

Locals leave because of the mayhem that occurs. It does not promote the family beach destination that Myrtle Beach tries so hard to convey.

We need a change.

How many semi truckloads of barricades did they bring in for this? How many ambassadors did they get to volunteer to work this?

Now they are trying to force the city employees to volunteer to do it. The security firm they hire backed out because they wouldn't let them be armed. Do you think anyone else wants to deal with this?

The violence and mayhem that comes with Bikefest needs to come to an end. We are a family destination. Get a grip, city of Myrtle Beach.
