Can we be honest here? Who wants Black Bike Week?

Memorial Day is for remembering our past and present veterans, both alive and passed. Memorial Day was always a weekend for families and friends to come together. We are able to do that because of these heroes.

Now, it has been reduced to bike week. So we all have to skirt around this, and pretend it doesn't bother us. Let's talk re: business owners. Why do they have to stay open if they lose on those particular days and hire extra security? Are they making that money back? Of course not.

Get rid of both bike weeks. Our lives and community are more important, aren't they?

Let's have the bikes check in to show current registration/insurance/license. Give them a bracelet to wear. Every driver not wearing a bracelet can be subject to a ticket. So much money is wasted on this particular weekend.

If Myrtle Beach has all this money to spend, can't we do something extra special for our veterans?

The writer lives in Myrtle Beach.
