Letter | Don’t let Veteran’s Administration crimes go unpunished
Re: The April 3 editorial from the Chicago Tribune, “Learning from Atlanta's Shame:”
I was very pleased to read about the conviction of the Atlanta public school educators who were found guilty of racketeering for changing test scores to meet goal, receive bonuses and retain their jobs.
If this sounds familiar it should because that is exactly what has been going on at the Veterans Administration for years. They were given a goal to see all Veterans within 45 days. They couldn't make their goal so they cooked the books. They falsified government records and many received bonuses.
There are big differences between the two cases: 32 people caught cheating in Atlanta, hundreds of people cooking the books at the VA. No reports of deaths attributed to cheating in Atlanta, many deaths attributed to the delays and cover ups at the VA.
Where is the FBI and Justice Department? Where are the arrests and the perp walks? Where are our elected officials? Where are the letters from our veterans?
All veterans and their relatives should be up in arms. Not only did they cause the deaths of our brothers and sisters, they stole our hard earned tax payer dollars. Let your voices be heard.
