Letter | Christian leaders must stand up or assault on faith will be even more successful

Christian leaders must stand up to save faith
I have been watching and reading in disgust about the bullying tactics of a particular branch of gays and lesbians against the proprietors of a pizza establishment in Indiana. It reminded me of another “hands up don’t shoot” media frenzy. It seems like everyone’s religious rights, except Christians, are to be respected in this country and around the world.
I am a regular Christian churchgoer who, week after week, listens to my pastor preach to me and the congregation how we should all try to better people and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I agree with him.
But he and his fellow clergymen, including Bishops, Cardinals and even the Pope, should step up, lead and be the voice for defending our religious beliefs.
The Billy Graham family has been the leading voice in saving souls in the name of Jesus Christ and made a healthy living by doing it. Well, they and their ilk should use their celebrity status to lead us in the fight for the survival of Christianity in this country and around the world. It is time for all the preachers to become advocates.
We need to take a leaf out of the Al Sharpton, gay, Hispanic and union playbooks and threaten the boycott of advertisers, corporations and media outlets when our civil rights and freedom of religion choices are threatened.
The Disciples put theirs and their families lives and fortunes on the line in the name of Jesus Christ.
We will follow the preachers if they do more than just preach. We are waiting for you.
