Myrtle Beach courting unrest with new law

It seems, in my humble opinion, that Myrtle Beach city government is brewing the perfect storm to create a Ferguson-type incident right here in our beautiful town.

First, we create a helmet law for all of the bikers that love to come to our ocean side hamlet, to save them from themselves, but that is another story.

Low and behold, no one came. Loss of income to the city coffers. And, wham - repealed the law!

We could have left it in place.

Now we have bikers returning in large numbers for two weeks every May. Bad things happen, kind of like in large cities. Grow up Myrtle Beach. You become a big city when that many people come to your town. You have to deal with big city problems, as well as the income generated.

Now, this is the good part, you now plan to have "Tight rules for Bikefest."

Are you aware of how angry people react to tight rules? You believe that everyone will just do as you ask and not push back against those rules?

Did you learn nothing when you tried to save them from themselves with helmet laws? Do you want months of unrest?

I rest my case.
