Letter | In May, we will honor those in Myrtle Beach area who served to protect us
MILITARY
Time to honor those who served to protect us
For more than a decade, the men and women of our armed forces have answered the call of our nation, have taken the fight against terrorism to foreign lands and to free people from tyrants.
Enlisted troops, National Guard and reservists served together for a common cause. Now these “operations” are over and these honorable Americans are back home. It is more important than ever that we recognize them for their service and the interruption to their normal lives.
The men and women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan did their job and did it well. For all they did to keep us safe, they deserve to be recognized and thanked.
On Saturday, May 2, Rolling Thunder SC3 will host a tribute to honor and say thank you to these Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans. This event will be held in the social hall at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church.
The opening ceremony starts at Noon and will be followed by lunch and entertainment. This is a free event. It will provide an opportunity for these veterans to socialize with others who have been there, make new friends and perhaps be reunited with old ones.
If you are an Iraq or Afghanistan Veteran, or you know of one, please share the details of this event and encourage them to attend.
To register for the event contact Paula @ 843 399-0356 or pbsc65@sccoast.net.
