Traffic light defeats purpose of new bridge

I thought the new bridge at the “back gate” was built to help the flow of traffic on U.S. 17 Bypass and Farrow Parkway? If so, why was another traffic light put up less than a mile south?

Now cars headed south will cross the new bridge only to be stopped at the bottom of the bridge at Palmetto Point Boulevard. Once cleared there, and getting up to the posted speed limit of 55 mph, cars get to slam on the brakes again because of the new traffic light.

This is not helping traffic flow on U.S. 17 Bypass and is instead slowing it down tremendously.

There does not seem to be any logic to the thought process used in deciding where or if a new traffic light is needed.
