Hills has wrong agenda for Georgetown council
Bill Hills, who recently announced his candidacy for Georgetown County Council, had his career in the timber industry, where trees were grown, cut and marketed for timber. It appears that the totality of his campaign platform is to prevent strengthening the county tree ordinance, which will provide additional protection for our majestic live oaks.
Bill’s total platform appears to look out for the timber industry. He is possessed with fighting the tree ordinance. He even founded a group called Speak Out to specifically fight the tree ordinance.
We love our live oaks in the Waccamaw Neck. Their beauty defines the appeal of our area. Our live oaks are essentially emblems of our community and are valuable assets. Most people here are very supportive of protecting these trees, but not Bill Hills. I certainly do not want them cut and I know those people who care about the Inlet feel the same way.
Do we want to put the fox in the hen house and elect a timber industry lobbyist as our council person? No way. I cannot vote for Bill Hills.
