Thomas still right choice for Georgetown council
What’s with Bill Hills’ candidacy for Georgetown County Council?
Surely, he can have no issue with the good job Republican John Thomas has done on County Council representing Murrells Inlet and Litchfield. John is very responsive to constituents and has been effective with his representation for the entire district.
John has stood up for cost effective government, improved transportation, good land use planning and protecting our coastal environment. He’s worked hard to preserve our quality of life.
It seems what’s driving Bill’s candidacy is not any issue with John’s performance; it’s Bill’s obsession with the tree ordinance and his efforts to prevent any additional protections for live oak trees. That appears to be his sole campaign issue.
I think most people in the council district support solid protections for these trees, except for Bill. Maybe it’s the fact Bill is in the timber business and sees election to County Council as a way to advocate for the timber industry.
What I do know is that I will be voting for John Thomas next year. He has done a great job and deserves reelection.
