Celebrate the Constitution in Myrtle Beach this weekend
Sept. 17, 2017, the 230th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States of America, reminds us there is much to celebrate regarding this unique document that guarantees and protects the rights of all citizens. Our constitution stands alone in the world as a document of laws of legal process and protection, giving each citizen the same rights as any other citizen of the country.
Gov. Henry McMaster has declared September 17-23 as Constitution Week in South Carolina. Horry County Council and the mayors of Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, and Surfside Beach have issued proclamations.
Theodosia Burr, Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, will celebrate with a free public program at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 in the Base Recreation Center, Market Common, 800 Gabreski Lane, Myrtle Beach.
“George Washington and the Constitution” will be presented by professional teachers and Colonial reenactors Bill and Cara Elder as George and Martha Washington.
This program, appropriate for all ages, provides an entertaining and educational experience.
