Crime not unique to Myrtle Beach
My wife and I bought a condo in Myrtle Beach about a year ago for family use and rental. We love it and come as often as we are able.
As an online subscriber to The Sun News, I try to keep up with local news. Now I want to voice an opinion on the recent crime wave news in Myrtle Beach.
Year-round Myrtle Beach residents must feel that violent crime is out of control. I feel the same way here in my area of Georgia. In the past two months, we had two sheriff’s deputies killed when responding to a domestic dispute. It doesn't matter if you are in a small town, medium-size town, or urban area, violent crime is everywhere.
The solution? Support the police. What do I mean by that? Well, if I was in charge of county and city expenditures, I would put a freeze on all government spending except for police protection.
Any millage increase would be directed to police recruitment, pay, equipment and jails until the crime rate decreased.
