There is no double taxation for RIDE III
Re “If there’s money left over from RIDE, why must taxes go up?” lettter by Danny Cox.
The penny tax for Ride II expired at midnight on April 30, 2016 and hasn't been collected since that time.
The Ride III penny will not begin to be collected until May 1 of this year and will continue for eight years.
There are not two pennies of sales tax for roads in Horry County. The Ride III penny is simply replacing the Ride II penny that expired last year.
