The angry, anti-Trump rhetoric has to end

Re: “I’m not in the mood for ‘unity.’ Trump’s still a bigot” column by Leonard Pitts Jr. and “It’s not time to unify; it’s time to fight” letter by Tamara Eldridge.

Enough all ready with the tone expressed in both pieces.

The dissenters to Donald Trump need to step away from calling his supporters racists, homophobes, anti-immigrants, etc., and consider the options, which included Hillary Clinton, who put national security at risk, as well as proposing suppression of religious freedom.

Given that choice, many voted for Trump, who indicated he was committed to improving inner-cities, reducing unemployment, supporting law and order, which bodes well for the nation.

Mr. Pitts and Ms. Eldridge have a right to their opinion, but I expect that right to be returned without rancor to people who have different views. I suggest we cut back on the negative, damaging rhetoric bordering on the support of anarchy, subtly suggesting violence and riots as action alternatives.

And as a reminder, the worst post-election case of rioting was in Portland by anti-Trump participants.

And finally, I would expect a “responsible” media, including The Sun News, to shy away from explosive articles and be a visible force for peace and unity in our nation.
