Veterans receive invaluable help

Veterans Day fund-raising at Myrtle Beach Sam’s Club 6353 for American Legion Post 40 in Myrtle Beach, due to Hurricane Matthews flooding.

The Myrtle Beach American Legion Post 40 wants to thank Sam’s Club 3653 in Myrtle Beach, and its staff, for its help during our recent fund-raising when we passed out Poppies and American Flags for donations on Veterans day weekend and in mid-November.

American Legion Post 40, along with the generosity of Sam’s Club and its patrons, were outstanding. Legionnaires from Post 40 who volunteered their time and service enjoyed themselves. This Veterans Day fundraiser will assist us to rebuild our American Legion Post 40, which was damaged in October’s storm. The cost for repairs is between $25,000 and $30,000.

Our monthly meetings are currently being held at the Socastee Library. We are working hard to carry on our activities so that we may continue to live up to our motto of “Veteran’s serving veterans” in the Myrtle Beach-Socastee area.

Post 40 legionnaires sincerely thank and appreciate all that Sam’s Club and their employees have done to welcome and support us.
