Push anger aside; support Trump

Frankly, as an avid reader of The Sun News, I was quite disappointed and appalled with two recent rants that were published.

The first started out with a nice ring to it Time to take OUR country back by columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. Sure, the first sentence says, “It is time for the country to heal, time for us (to) come together.” Then he shatters what I thought would be a unifying message for all.

Yep, he jumps into, “I have no interest in seeing this country heal.” Then he refuses to come together. What? References to the upcoming “Reich,” which to many would be a veiled suggestion of the infamous “Third Reich” of Germany, is simply nonsense!

I had a higher opinion of Pitts before but promoting this marching, boycotting, assailing lawmakers, etc. is just plain “wrong!”

The second rant came in the form of the lead letter of the week, “It’s not time to unify; its time to fight!”

What is going on here in America? Sure, there is the right of free speech. But promoting hatred and violence is crazy. One telling sentence in the second rant says it all: “I am not interested in uniting with you. I am interested in working against you!”

Is this healing or unifying America after a contentious bitter election battle? In my opinion, both rants should not have been published in The Sun News. We do not need to throw gasoline into the growing fire that may consume us all.

I would hope and pray that responsible journalism will in some ways heal America.

Please let there be no more hate manifests. Let’s give our newly elected president a chance to hopefully make America great again.
