Chaos couldn’t stop motivated voters in Horry County
I want to thank the Horry County Board of Elections for trying to deter the casting of votes at Sea Oats I. Nothing could have been more effective other than perhaps a picket line. The whole mess could be described as organized chaos.
First, there were no designated handicapped parking areas at the polling place. Then the signage could have been made and posted by a first-grader. There were signs about the outside of the building stating to enter through the rear doors; however, entrance was gained by using the front doors.
Once inside, there were no signs to direct voters where to go. Those of us arriving were directed by other voters who were already in line.
There were chairs provided for handicapped people, but this was done in a very haphazard fashion. Again, we had to rely on word of mouth about where to sit. We had no idea once we found a chair when and if our turn would be.
I give credit to the workers doing their best with what limited resources were provided them by the county. To top all of this off was the fact that there were several voting machines sitting on a long table to facilitate the voting process, but only three machines were in operation.
Didn't someone in their infinite wisdom know that this was a presidential election and that there would be a very large turn out? Three machines was ludicrous. So, it is two thumbs way down for the Horry County Board of Elections and two thumbs way up for the loyal Americans who dealt with this circus in order to cast their ballots.
