GOP obstructionism turns us off

This is our recent email to Sen. Tim Scott, whom we like very much, copied to Sen. Lindsey Graham, for whom we have great respect:

Dear Sen. Scott, I and my husband, a disabled Vietnam veteran, really like you. We admire your desire to be accessible to Republicans and Democrats and work with both sides of the aisle.

As fiscal conservatives and basically middle-class and middle-of-the-road semi-social liberals, we want to vote for you. But because of continued Republican obstructionism and Republican promises to block any Supreme Court nominee, we cannot do so.

We want and need, like every other South Carolinian, representatives who work for us, not against everything that the other party wants because of partisanship.

Robert G. and Joan R. Sloane, Conway
