Hyman right candidate for 7th district, Rice in pocket of big money
In the approaching election, it is vital that the 7th Congressional District be represented by a person who has the best interests of all of the residents of the district at heart, not just the big money contributors and the oil companies.
Mal Hyman -- educator, environmentalist, family man -- is running as a Democrat against the incumbent, Republican Tom Rice. You may recall that Rep. Rice has indicated that he backs the oil and energy companies in their quest to drill for oil off our pristine coast even though every town and village from Charleston to Little River is against not only drilling, but sonic testing, which Rice also supports.
The voters of the 7th Congressional District have a right to see a public debate between Mr. Hyman and Mr. Rice, who has grudgingly agreed to one debate with Mr. Hyman. There should be more than one debate and they must be held in a public place so citizens have the opportunity to see them in person and they need to be televised both on the local channels and on public television-ETV.
