Those promising to leave if Trump wins, good riddance

Re “God help us if ‘President Trump’ becomes a reality” letter by Nick Siotka.

Let me say that if Siotka wants to leave America when Donald Trump is elected, let me know if he needs help packing.

As a Vietnam-era veteran who served our country honorably, I find it disturbing how ill-informed and reactionary some people on the left are reacting to our national election. Selective hearing, or left-wing selective media, is driving this country apart once again.

First off, Mr. Trump does not preach isolationism, which is how the left tries to paint him. He wants “America First” by trying to keep manufacturers from fleeing our shores and giving our workers’ jobs to other countries. (I would think every nation would feel the same way).

What would you want, Mr. Siotka? America second? America third? Well, that is where we are headed with our $20 trillion debt unless we address our issues with countries (i.e. China) who continually devalue their currency, thus raising our trade disadvantage.

He wants to fine companies who want to pull out of our manufacturing sector and move overseas for cheap labor and cheap taxes, which puts our workers out of work. Has Hillary Clinton addressed these issue? No.

He wants to totally revamp Obamacare, which has crushed lower income Americans rather than help them. Oh sure, he has the federal government helping pay for their monthly premiums, but these American go for the cheapest plans they can afford and then get wiped out if they have to use the emergency room or hospital when they have to come up with a $6,000 deductible.

If they had $6,000 lying around, they wouldn't qualify for the subsidies. So they go further into debt. What a sham.

Trump wants to halt illegal immigration and promote legal immigration. That’s enforcing our laws, not breaking them like President Obama and Clinton, who turn a blind eye to illegal entries and, even worse, allowed sanctuary havens where we can’t even deport the undocumented criminals.

Does this mean he will deport all undocumented residents? No, of course not.

But if they want to stay, they will have to get legal status, not blank amnesty, which accepts the good, the bad and the ugly.

So again, let me know if you need help packing off to some other country. I know some people did this back in the 1960s so they wouldn't have to join the military like the rest of us did.
