Planned Parenthood debate should be about defunding abortion, not health care

AP

I received an email today from President Obama asking me for a donation of at least $ 5 so Planned Parenthood could be kept in business and he could prevent the government from being shut down by ultra conservative Republicans just for the reason of defunding Planned Parenthood.

Never ever have I heard any Republican say they were against birth control and good health care for women. Fact is I have never heard anyone say that.

This entire Planned Parenthood debate is very frustrating for me.

The health care act supplies free birth control to all that are not too lazy to go get it and the Morning After pill is on the shelf in drug stores.

Rape victims can go to a hospital and get treatment to prevent pregnancy so why do I have to pay for abortions with my tax money when I am so against it. I know there will be isolated cases of need, however, I suspect some just use abortion as their only means of birth control and that to me is unjust ghastly murder and late-term abortions are just tooooooo horrible to think about.

Yes, I am aware that the fetus tissue Planned Parenthood sells for a profit goes for research, however surely there is another way to conduct this research from other sources and not the body parts of murdered babies.

If Planned Parenthood wants to stay in business to help women with health care, passing out birth control, free breast mammograms etc. I am all for it.

It takes donations from many organizations and tax money to provide this free needed service. If now and then there is a special need for an abortion let a doctor in a hospital take care of that but not at the taxpayers expense.

Personally what any woman decides to do with her body is her business between her and her higher power and her choice. It only becomes my business when I am forced beside my will and beliefs to pay for a procedure I am vehemently against and then is a loss of my freedom of choice.

To add to my dilemma yesterday Hillary Clinton suggested in a campaign speech that if we were against abortions we treat women as bad as terrorists. Doesn't she realize she is condemning about 50 percent of the United States population? This from someone who wants to be president of this country.

I don't think so and I hope not.

I am not speaking here as a Republican or Democrat for I consider what I have said to be non-partisan from a person who loves this wonderful country and its freedoms and hopes her efforts help to keep it so.
