Letter | Don’t be confused about Haley’s flag motives
While I am thrilled that the Confederate flag is coming down, let's not fool ourselves into thinking the governor pushed for this because it was the right thing to do.
She has been trying to weasel her way onto the national stage sine she began her final term as governor and when the shootings happened in Charleston happened she saw a way to turn a national tragedy into a golden opportunity.
We will never know how many arms she had to twist, how many threats she had to issue or how many favors she had to call in to make this happen but there was no way she was going to let that flag stay up if it stood in the way of her ambitions.
Throughout her entire time in office she has shown herself less concerned with the needs of the people of South Carolina than with those of her corporate owners, this is no surprise. Seems this time it's the ones who voted for her that are the angriest but come next election if she is on the national ticket they will just bend over and vote for her again!
