Letter | How quickly we forget our veterans’ sacrifices

My father served in the Pacific during World War II, along with three of his brothers. At war’s end, he and two of his brothers returned to the family farm in Conway. My grandmother gave four sons to our country and she was given back three.

As the phrase goes — All Gave Some, Some Gave All.

This is my story. I'm sure there are many families in the county that have similar stories of relatives who served proudly.

To me, and I am sure to many others, there is no way to rationalize or speechify away the poor judgment and lack of respect shown by the Myrtle Beach City Council towards our nations veterans. They seem to have forgotten why there is a Memorial Day.

I guess it's hard to stand up and do the right thing when you lack a spine.

The writer lives in Conway.
