Letter | End cable monopoly in Myrtle Beach. Let HTC and TWC compete.

Time to end cable monopoly in Myrtle Beach
The monopoly continues. I live in an area of Myrtle Beach that the developers signed an exclusive contract for TV cable service with Time Warner Cable. I was informed that this June they will stop broadcasting analog TV signals and all TVs will require a separate monthly rented digital adapter.
I've tried that before and returned them because of the expense and because they frequently stopped working, usually in the middle of a show. To make things worse, the over the air antennas will be useless in less than 2 years.
Why can't other cable providers, like Horry Telephone Cooperative, be allowed to compete ? More than 10 years of monopoly is enough.
