Six Flags teases record-breaking Texas roller coaster. View test run
Six Flags is giving adrenaline fans a sneak peek at its record-breaking 300-foot-tall roller coaster set to soon debut in Texas.
The theme park released an Instagram video on May 28 of the exhilarating Tormenta Rampaging Run embarking on a test run in Arlington, along with heart-racing music and the words, "Mess with the Bull....you get the horns." You can spot chain link fencing and a warning sign urging people to stay out of the construction area, but the ride is "coming soon," according to the Instagram post.
Tormenta Rampaging Run, located in Six Flags Over Texas' new Spanish village, Rancho de la Tormenta, is set to shatter half a dozen world records - it's the tallest, fastest, longest, first and only giga dive coaster (a coaster that is at least 300 feet tall) in the world, according to the theme park's website.
"As riders ascend to the lift hill's peak, they are filled with a sense of anticipation before plunging into a record-breaking 95 degree beyond vertical drop, complete with sharp turns and other exhilarating drops that replicate the thrill of the Running of the Bulls," the website for the ride says.
Here are the records being broken by the Tormenta Rampaging Run:
- Tallest dive coaster: 309 feet
- Highest 95-degree beyond vertical drop: 285 feet
- Fastest dive coaster: 87 mph
- Highest Immelmann inversion: 218 feet
- Tallest vertical coaster loop: 179 feet
- Longest dive coaster: 4,199 feet
